Your greatest enemy shows up in the wilderness. No matter how prepared we think we are, life remains the undefeated foe in the area of unpredictability! No matter the opposition we face along the way of life, we must take advantage of every opportunity to grow.

Every mile traveled is a mile of victory!

Every single season of struggle has a distinct purpose called conditioning!

Conditioning doesn’t eliminate the times of drought but it will ensure our survival of it.

The only sure way to remain grounded and grow in times of adversity is to exercise and fight! Every true warrior engages in battle but every great warrior finds a way to overcome and survive the war! How can we ensure our survival and grow?

Build Muscle

Don’t be afraid to sweat! Beneath our exterior, we have weak spots. We protect those places with the appearance of strength and security. The display of strength for some may consist of money or positional power that solidifies their social status. While others rely on their spiritual and moral standards.

No matter the case, the “muscle” beneath it all is most important. Muscle, the tissue below the outer layers, allow the body to remain flexible which produces movement. The positional integrity of the body will stay intact while the body engages in action. Muscle strength holds it all together. We must regularly pack on the muscle by experiencing times of drought! If we don’t move, we risk failure or even worse, defeat!

Every drought presents the opportunity to learn more about the opponent. If the battle isn’t won the first time, brace yourself for the next one. The seasons of drought come around more than once so let’s gain from them instead of lose! We get so caught up in the drought that we don’t notice the real opponent.

The enemy within.

Its true, we can be our biggest enemy, the self-saboteur. Conditioning the body eliminates the effects from the weakest parts below the surface and replaces it with healthy muscle. It’s the strength required to grow and survive the times of drought. A dry place doesn’t have to equal failure or hopelessness. The drought is not an excuse to not produce. There is a biblical principle that supports this:

Jeremiah 17:8

For he will be like a tree planted by the waters,

That spreads out its roots by the river;

And will not fear the heat when it comes;

But its leaves will be green and moist.

And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought

Nor stop bearing fruit.

The fact is, the most phenomenal things grow in the desert!

Honestly, during extreme times of drought, you will be alone. The hardest parts of the journey are intentionally designed for solo travel. Its purpose is to build a secured confidence but more importantly, it introduces you to faith. The faith in knowing that you will survive, even in the drought!
